Something that made me think
Being a German citizen in the States i do not speak much German lately. So a while ago a movie made it to our on demand section, it was actually German subtitled in English. “Das Leben der Anderen” – The lives of others.It is about the actions of the Stasi in the GRD. I initially avoided watching the movie, because.. well I actually do not know. Today it played on a channel I had been watching in the background and I actually got into the movie. I was really young when the wall fell, and for me it was just something that happened that I could not understand. Anyways the movie, while being depressing -a lot of lost hope and shattered dreams- it kinda shows at the same time that if there is the slightest bit of good in humans, it can make a difference. The movie is nice and give a lot of food for thought and I am happy that I finally took the time to see it… and on a sidenote, its not me who is losing the ability to speak and write German… their grammar really does sound retarded….
